another opk question

Thread Starter
I had minimal ovulation signs, so i was surprised to get a positive opk when i tested on day 14. Sure enough, the next day, i felt the usual ovulation ache. Then that evening around 7pm, i did another opk, which was even more positive than the previous one (line being darker than the test line) I guess that means the lh was still in my system, and there was more than there was the previous night.

My question is, does this tell you anything about the timing of ovulation? Does this give any useful information at all?

Yes I would say your body will most likely ovulate 24 to 48 hours after CD15 since that was your last positive. I have seen women get + OPKs 4 days in a row and two is definately normally using the last day it positive as your positive. Did that make sense??

it's hard to say. when opks work as they are supposed to (and i love opks, but they are never a guarantee, remember,) you could o anytime from within 12 hours of your first opk (even if you have subsequent pos's beyond that time) to 48 hours after your last pos opk. and this can vary cycle to cycle, so while you may see a typical pattern for you (for ex, i usually o on the day they first go negative) that also is no promise- it can change any time, too.

Are you checking your BBT, too? That's how I confirm ovulation after getting a positive OPK, and after doing that for a couple of months you can see a pattern. For example, I'll usually get my first positive OPK on CD 15 and my BBT goes up on CD 18, so I assume I ovulate between CD 16-17, usually. It's not an exact science by any means. Good luck!
