Some questions.

We are somewhat new to EC. DD is 14mos and we began part time EC when she was 11mos. At first she took to it right away and loved to make potties on her potty. She did so regularly and was so thrilled about it. Then, about 3 weeks ago she stopped and no longer wants to sit on any potty. Nothing else has changed. I still offer but most times she cries when I go to sit her down. She points at the potty but does not want to sit on it. We also do diaper free time and she used to say potty when she made a potty but now she does not say it often and she will play in her potty like it is a puddle of water (stomp, splash)!

Advice for us?

Hmm, it could just be a period where she doesn't want to use the potty, but could the potty perhaps not be as comfortable to her at this age for some reason? Maybe try getting a different style potty and see if this changes things. Or have her sit on the big potty. Maybe get a seat reducer. Perhaps she'd like that because she'd feel all grown up using the big potty like everyone else. Let us know what happens!

Thanks for responding.

I have tried the regular toilet. She will sit for a second or two but then wants down. I don't *think* its a comfort thing as she seems to respond the same no matter where.

What should I do about her "playing" in her potty on the floor? How should I respond to a potty on the floor?

Do you think she goes while standing? My children both decided they didn't want to sit on the potty when they were becoming mobile. My daughter likes to pee standing in the bath.

Sometimes she does stand, sometimes not. Yesterday she was sitting on the floor in the hall and made a potty then got up to stomp in it and spread it around.

I have been telling her "potty" when she makes a potty during diaper free time and then I wipe it up and say potty goes in the potty and point to her chair. I have been saying it in a matter of fact tone. Should I be using a different tone?

She likes to help wipe up the potty. I just don't know. . .

It seems like we went from her enjoying using the potty to now feeling like any place is as good as any other (with the exception of her not wanting to even sit on the potty most often now with an occasional few second sitting on it here and there) I just don't know what my roll should be.
