Horizon cheese?

I know Horizon is sketchy, but if it were your only organic option for a particular product, would you get it or just save money and get the conventional version? The product I'm talking about is shredded Mexican-style cheese... it's a staple in our house and we typically buy big bags of Kraft from Sam's Club. I know Horizon is cr@p but is it at least free of hormones and antibiotics? Is it worth the (significant) added expense? My other idea is to buy blocks of cheddar and shred it myself (I would probably buy Cabot) but I'd like something I can buy for when I'm too lazy. TIA for any replies.

I think if you could afford it definitely get Horizon over Kraft.

I've actually heard some things recently where some farmers prefer horizon to organic valley, because they allow their farmers to do herd shares and simply sell them the excess.... So yeah, if you can afford it and you don't have a different local cheese opion, I'd definetly do it over kraft. A million times over.

Thanks for the replies! Since I originally posted, I've started buying blocks of Cabot cheddar and Monterey Jack and shredding myself to make a "Mexican-style" blend. At first I was shredding it all at once and storing in the fridge, but it was caking so now I shred as I go. DH was complaining, though, because he likes the convenience of having it already shredded when he cooks or when he's alone with the boys and DS1 asks for "shreddy cheese", so I did buy some Horizon to keep as backup.
