Focus group

Now that I am a stay at home mom, bringing in some extra cash would be nice. I am going to participate in a focus group next week. Wondering what your experiences have been with them in the past. Also how do they pay you, cash, check, etc. Do you claim it to the IRS if its cash?

I've gotten cash before and umm no I may have forgotten to report that to the IRS, but given that it was a small amount and once, I'm not feeling too guilty. Officially you're probably supposed to report it.

I've enjoyed ones I do in the past. I've been surprised how many opinions I've had on things as minor as kids shoes and sugarless candy. I wouldn't say it's a steady stream of income though by any means.

I'm not looking for it to be supplimental just extra! $200 for 2 hrs, sold! I wouldn't report it either, but what if I did a couple a month that would add up, can they track that! How do the FG companies get away with giving cash?

I'd like to know the same thing. I have a friend who does these things; last month she did three tequila tastings! I would've loved to have done those!

We live in Atlanta and there are easily a dozen market research companies. Just google market research or focus groups then your city name! I got called for 2 yesterday. SO I could see myself doing several a month!

I think the amount you're supposed to report is if you get more than $600 a year. And in that case, they'd have to send you a 1099, so you would just submit that.
