Who's following the Brewer Diet?

I've never followed it specifically. I always aim for high amounts of protein, plus all the veggies, etc. But now my mw is recommending following the Brewer diet so I am starting it today.

I'm just amazed at all the food I'm supposed to eat! Is anyone else having trouble getting it all in? I just made a smoothie with yogurt (dairy), almond milk (calcium), strawberries (vit C), frozen orange juice (vit C), and romaine lettuce (dark leafy green). I guess it's a pretty good start, but there's a lot more food to go! And I can't do a lot of dairy or I get really congested.

So, what are you doing to consolidate and get all the foods in? Besides smoothies, I'm thinking of making up some soup with vegetables, beans and meatballs for lunch or an afternoon snack. I'd love to hear some of your meal plans/ideas. Thank you!

I tried to mostly follow it during my last pregnancy, focusing on the dairy and protein aspects. I'm still in my first tri with this one and can't think about eating that much.

I did feel like I was eating all the time. I had at least two snacks a day. I usually made some kind of smoothy after dinner with protein powder in it. I drank 3-4 glasses of milk a day. I ate nuts every day.

I don't remember doing much different with meals except fixing more meat. We didn't eat so much meat before then, but I started fixing meat for at least one meal per day.

for those who have tried it (or something like it) did all that food make you gain a lot of extra weight?

All the food was the problem that I had with it as well. Especially the vegetarian version. I discussed it with my mw I decided to not follow as closely, and I've paid attention to the veggie and dairy requirements, but not follow the protein requirements too much, although I know that's the main component of the diet. MW's thoughts are that people on this diet tend to grow bigger babies, and that in the earlier stages of pregnancy, all that protein isn't really needed. Her guideline for my protein intake is about 70-80 grams a day. I feel really good when I get that much, and I don't feel like I'm eating too much. I don't think I could get up to 100 if I tried, unless I started eating meat.

I followed it pretty closely with my first and only gained 26lbs. This time I've been too lazy too and I'm pretty sure I'm eating less, but it's crappier food and I've gained close to 30 and have 7 weeks left.

I never have but I think I am going to use it as inspiration this time around. I took a look at it last night. I really want to be healthy this time, lots of good food and exercise!

I'm 14 weeks and I've been eating whatever I could stomach for this first tri. It sucks, because even though I've been really sick, the food I have eaten has been pretty high calorie and/or high carb, because I've already gained 10 lbs. I can't blame it all on the weight of my boobs!

I'm going to try to follow it, but not go crazy if I can't get in all the dairy. I'll probably still take a calcium supplement, too.
