Anyone from Newton? We are buying a house next month there, and I would love to know some mama's in the area!

I don't live there any more but I used to work at the High School there. It is a lovely little town. I think you will like living there.

I'm a little north of Newton, and am a Momma & Grandmomma. Welcome & let me know when you get moved in. The daughter that has my 3 grandbabies lives near newton (just south of you) & she's a natural Momma.

 Hi, lilbsmama,

So, did you get moved into your home in Newton? Nice to know there are some homebirthing families still in the area, as one and so is my daughter, and that's what I do, catching babies, anyway. Well, since I'm also a homebirth CNM, I do well woman & family planning, too.

Have a lovely memorial weekend.

Hello Karen! We actually did get moved in! We moved to Newton in October, with my MIL, but have since decided that living with her is not working for us. So last Monday we moved into an apartment in NE Hickory. I was thinking of contacting you as the OB who attended my last birth has closed his practice and is leaving the country. DH and I are talking about another baby!

HI, Nikki,

By  moving to NE Hickory, you are very close to me, as I'm just a few miles north of the Catawba River, up Hwy. 127. Hope you are getting settled in.

Hi Ladies, we are also considering moving and I just came upon North Carolina (what a beautiful state!!) We are currently in Alaska and are looking for longer summers and access to the life we seek. Talking about birth I'm curious - what are the VBAC laws in NC? Are they legal? Am I allowed to use a midwife/hbac? thanks!

Congrats on the move!

Hi, nik

This my home state is truly beautiful and varied in scenery, culture, food, accents, etc.

Some Ob/GYNshospital nurse-midwives will do VBACs. As nurse-midwives are the only legal homebirth attendants, it varies depending on the protocols that nurse-midwife has with his/her backup OB. If you settle near Newton or the foothills or mtns., give me a call/message. I'd love to show you and any other newbies around. I know the western and some central parts like the back of my hand as my ancestors were a few of the earliest settlers here in the Catawba Valley area, esp. north of the Catawba River way back in the middle 1700s.

Welcome to Urban homesteading in the sticks of NC.
