Hi Ladies, I introduced my self in the main forum, but I am new here and my name is Heidi. I was referred to this site in hopes of finding other moms with childre that had food allergies. I am looking for support, websites, recipes. Anything that will help.

[[Background]] I have a 2.5 yr old daughter who has severe food allergies. She was diagnosed with food allergies about a yr ago. We have eliminated and then added back in and we are not doing well. She is under the care of an allergist as well as a gastroenterologist. She has gut reactions to the foods (diaherra and vomitting) She is on a medication that is intended to elivate the gut reacion and it was helping some, but has stopped. Currently we are also trying to incorporate Elecare and Neocate Nutra into ther diet because she is so restricted on what she can and cannot eat. She is currenlty not gettign the calories, fat or nutrients she needs. She is scheduled to go in September for her second endoscopy and colonoscpy. In addition she has reflux.

Allergies include:
wheat, oats, rye, milk, eggs, soy, carrots, green beans, peas, garlic, peanuts, chicken, beef, pork, turkey, goat, shellfish, blue berries, raspberriers, strawberries, red and blue dye.

I am looking for recipes and or websites that I can use to find tasty food and snacks for her to eat. If any of you can help, point me in the right direction, anything. I would be so appreciative.

Welcome to MDC!

Are you keeping a food journal to find the food triggers that might be causing the reflux? Maybe she has some intolerances in addition to the IgE allergies? (I'm assuming you're talking about IgE allergies since you see an allergist.)

We also have a long list of allergic foods. The only meat that DD isn't allergic to is lamb, so we eat a LOT of it. We make burgers and meatballs and "hotdogs" (DP just shapes the burger into a hotdog shape ) and eat lamb steaks. We also buy it locally, so that we can make sure it's 100% grassfed (because DD has reacted to meat that is fed grain.)

We use to use a lot of buckwheat (and then DD became allergic to that too)- it's great for baking and waffles and stuff. You can make waffles out of just flour, oil, salt, and water, and they're not too bad.

I have a lot of information on my blog (click my user name, then home page), including links for recipe websites. One is Kathy's recipe box- she's a mom here in the allergy forum, and she's constantly making fantastic new recipes!

Have you had your child tested for celiac or gliadin antibodies? Just curious with the wheat and rye listed as allergies. It seems to me that she shouldn't be eating anything that she is allergic to whatsoever - I can't imagine trying to just cover up the symptoms with meds.

Possible grains: rice, quinoa, corn? beans and legumes okay? if you could do rice and beans that would be an excellent source of protein. I eat a corn and quinoa spaghetti that is excellent. There are several cookbooks on the market that cater to allergens and kids. Most of them eliminate at least the Top8. We have this one and there are several in there that we use.

If she is allergic to food dyes and berries it could be food chemical intolerance that is continuing to cause intestinal inflammation:

How were the berry and dye allergies confirmed?

Intolerance of food chemicals does not involve the immune system but can cause similar reactions. The chemical salicylate (like aspirin) cannot be broken down properly by the body, due to nutritional deficiencies and enzymes and detox pathways that are not working correctly.
