LF salsa from seal failure can of tomatoes?

Is there any risk in using pressure canned tomatoes that didn't seal as the base for LF salsa? Will it still turn out?

did you just can them in the past couple days and then fridge them? otherwise, I wouldn't risk it. improperly canned foods can be very unsafe.

I agree. Unless it was you who broke the seal, no way, no how.

I canned them yesterday and noticed after they had been sitting on the counter a couple of hours. They were still warmer than room temp. I'm guessing that I just didn't clean the edge of the jar well enough after I packed it. According to most sources, they'd be safe to re-process in the pressure canner, but I don't want to run another load through. They're in the fridge now.

they sat on the counter just a few hours? then yes, I think I'd feel comfortable risking it. After all, I'd feel comfortable leaving cooked tomatoes out uncovered for a couple hours.
