Anyone else not doing much to get labor started?

I'm definitely staying away from EPO. I have somewhat fast labors (4-5 hours) and don't want any faster. I had a 4 hour labor when I used EPO with baby #2 and with #3, I stayed away from it and had a gentle 10 hour labor that was painless.

It may not have any effect but I'm trying to do what I can to NOT ripen my cervix too much, pre-labor.

I'm also not doing anything like walking up and down stairs, accupressure, tons of sex, etc. I'm not in a big rush yet. I'll start those things near my due date, I think. I'm 38 weeks today. I figure if it's going to happen now, it will. But if I start those things now, by 40 weeks, if I haven't gone into labor yet, I'll be sick to death of walking stairs and having sex! LOL

Sex. That's it.

Knowing that babies are much easier to take care of in the womb than they are outside the womb AND having a midwife that can do homebirths through 43 weeks, I'm not going to be doing a thing until I hit 42 weeks. I'm in no rush. That being said, DS was born at 39+3 so I'll be surprised if I see 42 weeks. Babies come when they are ready without our "help"!

Yup, not doing anything more than talk to the little guy and reassure him that if ne wants to come, say in two weeks, he can. I think I will leave him be as long as he is healthy.

i'm not doing anything yet, but i'm only 36 weeks too.. i don't have any plans to do anything until 39-40+ weeks.. i'm drinking some RRL tea, but not a ton .. i'm walking normally and i'm actually avoiding sex at this point because i don't want the extra contractions .. though i plan to start that soon not to get labor started, but more just to keep DH happy lol

37 weeks here, and not doing anything yet. I wanted to start my RRL routine this week, but will wait a week until my OB is back in town. But no, nothing else going on here--except high-energy nesting.

Nothing special here. We have sex when we feel like it (not to try to induce anything). I walked a lot today but it was all in the name of DD's bday present and geocaching, not to get the baby out

From my reading, the only techiques that I actually believe work on a regular basis are nipple stimulation and electro-acupuncture. I am not going to do anything unless I have a real health concern.

I'm completely with Andrea on this - its so much easier to be pregnant than it is to have a newborn! I'm only 35 weeks today, but I'm in no hurry at all for this little one to make his appearance.

I am taking EPO orally because of suspected scar tissue on my cervix, but I won't start taking it vaginally until later. I had a less than 6 hour labor with my first, and I would be okay with that again, but honestly, I don't want it to be much shorter. Not enough time to assimilate everything, I wouldn't think.

I'm not even going near a pineapple this time until I am at 42 weeks! That's what happened last time - hit 42 weeks and I was ready, and I thought he was, too, so I ate an entire fresh pineapple and had him in my arms just hours later.

I don't add anything even RRL into the mix until 40 weeks. I like things to happen when they are ready without any encouragement. 1 day after my due date last time I had acupressure and had the baby the next day. When I drink RRL or take any uterine tonics I have so many BH that it is distracting. I want to have this baby out and the third trimester discomforts over and done, but I am sure 3 weeks will go by fast!

I'm in no rush. I like the anticipation.

For me right now, I think it's easier to have a newborn than to be pregnant. I'm an enormous and miserable pregnant person, though-- like really physically having problems right now with how big I am (I'm short and short-torso'ed). But, I'm not even 36 weeks until tomorrow, although already dilating and effacing... basically I don't think my baby needs the help, my body is going to evict him well before my due date anyway.

I haven't as of now but will start after the weekend. I'm 39 weeks today and have up until this point been carrying on as normal except trying to turn this baby from posterior.
Monday I will have acupuncture (not electro though) and massage and will also begin RRL tea that day. Maybe dh will even get lucky. Poor guy has been without because it has just hurt my pelvis too much. I know the midwife will happily do a s&s that day if I want but I'm debatabing that one.
Apparently I should get myself a pineapple too.

I'm not in any hurry to have this baby, though I'm comfortable now with her coming whenever she wants, so I'm also doing nothing to try to hurry her along. I figure none of it would work anyway, and then I'd have the frustration of trying and failing.

I am curious, though, for those who say that a baby is easier to take care of inside than out - they're all going to be born at some point, with the same amount of "difficult" time to care for them (approximately), so if you're uncomfortably pregnant isn't it still better to have them out sooner and start that "difficult" period now, getting rid of the pains of pregnancy?

I agree that baby is easier on the inside, but baby coming sooner rather than later would be easier in terms of the "difficult" period and everything else going on here. However I know all the things I will start will only work if things are ready anyways.

I'm taking the Polly Jean herbs (like 5W). But those are more prep herbs, not "get out!" style.
IF I am still preggers by this time next week, I have a feeling that DH and I will be romping, but that's about all.

I'm 37 wks. Not doing anything here. I'm happy with the baby on the inside still. lol

Once I pass 40wk's we'll start having sex more often. 41wks, i'll probably try some other things but my MW will let me go 43, even 44 wks as long as things look good. So no hurry for us.

Wow, you are the picture of patience and zen, I can't imagine going that long! I remember I was going crazy the day after my due date last time. All zen until then though. I always joke that I will probably go to 42 weeks, but never imagined anything after that! Cheers to you mama!

39+ weekers often eat better and are easier to care for than 36-37 weekers.

while i don't want my baby to come out before 38-39 weeks.. and my DS who was born at 41 weeks was a MUCH easier baby than my 39 week DD ..... I still think having a newborn is WAY easier than where i am right now.. just .. throwing that out there, i am still going to wait it out because i'm only 36 weeks but i just know the next step is easier for me.. i am soooo huge and uncomfortable right now i'd rather have a newborn and be able to move around easier..

of course, i'm also REALLY looking forward to the change in weather that will come with my due date or shortly after! .. bring on FALL!
