Anyone use homemade laundry soap on their diapers??

I've heard it's really cheap and works on regular clothes. I was just wondering if anyone's ever used homemade soap on diapers? Does it work? Do they smell nice and not leak? Just curious. (I've never made laundry soap and this is part of the reason why I've never even really looked for the recipe.)

oh and if you do, and you like it, what's your 'recipe?'

I have. I made the dry kind with washing soda, borax and soap. I used Fels Naptha, ivory, and castle. I found it caused build up for us but that may be because it was the powder. Will be interesting to see if others who did the liquid had more luck.

BTW we have really hard water.

Lurking.....
I was wondering the same thing. I know once this baby comes its going to add more detergent. So far i've been happy to buy our soap but now with all the baby clothes and dipes again I wanted to try the homemade soap recipes but worried about buildup (I use prefolds and motherease OS)

The laundry soap with borax, washing soda and soap is NOT good for diapers. Soap has oils in it=build up=repelling issues on diapers.

I have used equal parts of washing soda, borax and oxiclean for diapers, but found it was missing a surfactant. However, add a drop or two of dawn (or other detergent surfactant) into the detergent dispenser and you are good to go.
