Going camping for a week at 39 wks - Page 2

I've tried the tupperware method. THere's less backsplash with the kitty litter.

During the day it's mostly portapotties, but plenty of the handicap ones are around.

Obviously, I'll be prepared to revise plans at the last minute, have a backup, and go home if I'm going into labor, etc.

That sounds just like a thing I would do! And I would LOVE to go, no matter how pg I was. I would even likely UC there if I had to just to have the experience!

I am weird. But I am really into Medieval times.

No way, no how. And I love camping -- I love to hike and camp with very minimal (read: non-cushy) gear.

At 39 weeks it's likely that your own comfy bed in your climate-controlled home will be uncomfortable. It's likely you'll be waking up a couple times a night even in that ideal environment.

Even if there was no possibility of going into labor, I wouldn't do it. You need to be as well rested and healthy as possible before labor. If you don't sleep well or you get sick, and then you go into labor, it could lead to interventions you don't want.

Edited to add: And if you do go in to labor, there's NOTHING worse than laboring in a car. I've had 4 unmedicated labors and births and that one 45 minute car ride was far worse than the combined total of everything else.

Very cool! I think I'll have to try this kitty litter potty sometime!
