ergo modifications for BIG husband

Thread Starter
hi all, first post!

I'm the mom of a 23 lb 8 month old. We've been babywearing since he was a newborn. The baby bjorn was great until he hit 15 lbs or so for me, but hubby has been using it until recently. We had to add some strap to it so he could wear, but now the boy is like toothpaste in the tube in that thing. I have been using an ergo and love it, but it will not fit my husband. Even with the add on waist strap, it is too small at the waist and shoulders- he is a barrel chested ex football player, like size 52 jacket big man.

Any advice on modifying the ergo or other buckle-type carriers we could try?

Thanks!

My dh really, really likes his ring sling. Even now, ds is 33lbs & dh can still comfortably carry him in a hip carry in the sling. He is a big guy too & finds the ergo uncomfortable.

sounds like you may need to get a new carrier. I don't see how you could safely modify your Ergo. maybe look into a carrier that can be custom made? you could contact BabyHawk, b/c I'm sure they could make an Oh Snap that would fit him.

The Ergo Sport goes much bigger than the regular Ergo.
