We have an almost-four-year-old and an eleven-month-old. We'd like to start trying for baby #3, but I haven't gotten my period back from last time. The first time, it was 19 months postpartum, so I'm not surprised at this. Both kiddos were/are snackers, day and night. We're not on a nursing schedule of any kind. I certainly don't want to wean at this point, and I don't think Little Girly would even let me consider it at this point (strong-willed as she is!), but I also would at least like the option of trying for another baby spaced a little closer than three years apart. So, any suggestions on encouraging my body to start menstruating again without messing up nursing?

Wow. 4 years PP is quite a long time! You may be one of those women that has to stop nursing before they have AF.
How is AF when you aren't nursing? Regular?
My MW was telling me (at 16m) To wait a while and see if AF makes herself regular, but there are some women who simply will not menstruate if they are nursing. The nursing hormones are just too strong.
I know some tricks that will get your AF started, like vit C mega doses, but if your nursing hormones are keeping things suppressed, there isn't anything you can do.

I totally read that as a 4 and 11 year old.
In that case, I wouldn't be worried. I didn't get PPAF until 14m PP. I think that is totally normal. You still have time. You can start charting now, that way maybe you can catch the first PP egg?
