5 month old crying in sleep?

DD has been sleeping in her crib fairly uneventfully for about 6 weeks. Just recently she started fussing/crying more frequently at night, but when I go in to check on her her eyes are still closed. It appears that she is crying in her sleep...? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it teething? I'm not sure how to best soothe her... not sure if I'm disrupting her more by picking her up when she's just sleeping? Eek. Either way, it feels totally traumatizing to hear those cries.

I know what you mean.
I just replied to another person who posted a similar topic. In my DS's case, I think he's either having a bad dream or a flashback of his difficult birth. The few times it's happened, it was just a couple long cries and then over, so I didn't need to pick him up and he seemed to go right back into sleep. The other night, however, he all of a sudden woke up screaming...I was still up in the other room and heard this through the baby monitor. I ran in there and had to pick him up and comfort him back to sleep. Yeah, it's hard to see that. I guess it's just bad dreams, but who knows really.
