Fast flow

I had a really fast flow with DS, but i don't really remember it being a huge problem, or how I dealt with it. DD is almost 3 weeks old and when my milk lets down, it really sprays and she chokes and sputters and cries. i usually take her off and hold a cloth diaper up to it for a bit and then relatch her. She usually has a huge burp at this point. Is there anything else I can do to deal with this and make nursing more comfortable for her? Thanks mamas!

I had this with both of mine. There really isn't an easly soluntion. You can pump some off just prior to latching her to see if that helps. I found block nursing helped me a ton with my huge oversupply and fast let down. I'd nurse on one side for two feedings, then nurse on the other for two, and so on. It takes some babies longer than others to control the flow. She's just learning and I'm sure she'll get the hang of it over the next 4-6 weeks. In the mean time, keep the cloth handy.
