CLW - introducing other milk?

DD1 nursed until she was 3. I don't remember when & how we introduced cow's milk. I suspect it was right around 1 year because she was SUCH an intense nurser, and I was overwhelmed. She still doesn't drink milk much LOL

DD2 is a good nurser, at a year she is nursing frequently, but she is less of a comfort nurser than DD1 was. So I want to take a bit more care in how we do things, to make sure I'm not encouraging her to stop nursing.

When did you introduce cow's (or other) milk? At any specific age? When they start to drop feedings? Never?

Not sure I'm the best person to answer but I didn't want you to get no responses! I think DS dropped feedings (with encouragement) around 16 or 17 months... And by 'dropped' I mean he was nursing 20+ times a day & we went down to 10-15 times a day to preserve my sanity. We didn't replace it with milk, though we did offer him food & water if he was actually hungry (otherwise, distraction did the trick). He occasionally has a couple sips of coconut milk or homemade nut milks but for the most part only drinks water. I see no reason to introduce other milks on a regular basis unless they aren't nursing frequently, but I also see no reason to avoid introducing other milks if that's what your family does (i.e. if everyone drinks milk at dinner then I'd go ahead & offer her some too; if everyone has water, then she can have water)... Just my opinion though! We are water-drinkers only for the most part.
