My daughters' official school district website has a link to a page regarding vaccination requirements. I noticed that there was zero mention of vaccine exemptions, only the requirements were stressed (big shock).
So I wrote a letter to the school administration asking them to include information regarding exemptions, explaining how important it is for parents have complete information regarding their options. I also asked that exemption information be provided in other places that the school discusses vaccines (front offices of the schools and student/parent handbooks).
The Superintendent wrote me back and stated that while they are aware that Texas has exemptions, the school was not interested in promoting these exemptions. She compared it to promoting a certain religion.
I replied to her letter, stating that I was not asking that they promote exemptions, only that they provide complete information to parents so that they are able to make vaccine decisions based on accurate information rather than perceived pressure from the school system.
In her reply to that she reconsidered, and the website was updated within a couple of hours! It's not much but check it out if you're up to it; the section on exemptions was nonexistent this morning:

Anyway, I hope that the exemption information will also be provided in the other avenues that I mentioned as well. Even if it isn't, the website is a good start, I think.
