origami paper?

we are having a "star making" meetup for our local mom's group in 2 weeks....I have the tutorials, and I am pretty sure that kite paper is the standard for this project. But- is there any way to use origami paper...such as the kind that is found in large craft stores? Is the outcome just as beautiful? thanks

I think they would still look nice, but, the beauty of kite paper is that it is a bit translucent, you can see light through it while origami paper is thicker.
I have both and I would not make window stars with origami paper, just my opinion.
