Toaster over or the like? Ideas

So we have a microwave that runs when it wants with no one starting it. So it sits unplugged and we use it when needed then unplug again. I am thinking I should just do my research and find something for when this thing dies.

I would like to stay away from the whole microwave aspect if possible and was wondering if any of you have a toaster oven or the like that you love.

These are some of the things I am hoping what ever I get can do. (if any of them can do this stuff)
reheat food items
make a potato
melt butter
along with toasting stuff lol

That is about it. I am going to miss microwave popcorn

Hoping for some direction as I have just started looking but am lost and don't want to spend a ton. Thanks guys!

I use a toaster oven mostly for toast or the like, but it is flexible.

I thin you could do all of those things, possibly not the potato thou. If you find a toaster oven large (tall) enough, the potato would work, but it's going to take as much time as an oven will all in all.

Melt butter, re-heat items, make toast, grill a steak or fish, I've done that all in a toaster oven.

As for a recommendation... I don't have one. I buy mine at the thrift store for a max of $5, they seem to last 2-3 years, but it's already been a used product.

good luck

I have an Oster counter oven and absolutely love it. When it is too hot in the summer to turn on the 'big' oven, we use it. I do not use a microwave at all anymore. My counter oven has a setting for 'fan bake', 'bake', 'broil', and 'toast' of course. it works as a dehydrator too, though I admit I haven't used it for that. Here is a picture of it.

I love it so much, when the one I had stopped working for some reason (I am electrically challenged, things around me tend to stop working), I was without it for a month and the person I live with bought me a new one. I wanted to get the old one repaired, but no one seems to do that, it is the same price to buy a new one probably, which really sucks for the environment... It was about $80 he said. The other thing I love is that it shuts itself off. The timer is automatically at 30 min, but you can set it higher and then not worry, because it stops when timer goes off. I am famous for forgetting I am cooking, so this is a must for me.
