Bunting/snow suit HELP! :)

I really need to make my youngest daughter a snowsuit. I'm hoping to do a wool one from a sweater (that I have yet to find ) from the thrift store.

I was thinking of doing one similar to this one.. http://www.danishwool.com/products/item/overall.html

It doesn't need a hood, but if i can manage that it would be awesome

I'll also be hand-sewing it (My grandma taught me when I was 3 or 4, so I'm fairly good at it!)

Anyone have any tips?

ETA: She turns 1 on December 22nd. I'm expecting her to wear a 12-18 month size throughout the winter (late OCT-March, actually)

Ahh, yay! Thank you sooo much.

I might try and do it with a different source of wool- mine is really really thick! It's one of those wool blankets with the satin-like edging.

If I do use it, I may line the inside with something.. any ideas as to what? It's off-white also, so I'm thinking I could dye it if I wanted to

You might try thrifting for a silk blouse to use as a liner or one of those super fine gauged merino sweaters. I've gotten a few that just.won't.felt.
The ones I have found are thin and light weight.

I did it!!

I got a already felted Express sweater from the thrift store (someone probably did it on accident!) and transformed it using a sleeper as a guide. The sleeper fit my older DD when she was in the 18 month size, so this snowsuit should fit through the winter

The top portion is a bit big, more like a 2T or 3T but since this is more for transport and not playing in the snow... It will suffice. I decided that I wanted to use velcro for fasteners, so I sewed some on in place of buttons. I'd like this to be a quick on quick off thing since we can't put it on in the car seat.

I'll add pictures later, probably tomorrow.

Oh, and I got quite a few of those fine merino sweaters that I plan on converting into wool unders since I'm broke and the ones I found are super soft! I got a few for my toddler and one for my baby, but I'll be going back for more I am sure
