My 13 year old with Asperger's starts at her new school on Wednesday and today we got her assignment for her homeroom teacher.
Her homeroom teacher spends most of the day in the art center, which is always available for kids who have a free period, and is one of my DD's *safe spaces* at school if she starts to feel overwhelmed. DD has blanket permission to go there and make art or go to the library and read any time.
She has a social anxiety disorder and a lot of issues about school and being away from home. I'm so pleased that the school matched her up with a homeroom teacher who is available most of the rest of the time. I think it's really going to help.
