Maca/Progesterone for IGT? Is it too late for incr. in glandular tissue?

Hello all.

I'm not sure if I have insufficient glandular tissue... but, I'm beginning to believe I do. I didn't have any breast changes during pregnancy and I've been on dom, goat's rue, more milk plus, and a whole bunch of galactagogue foods.

Anyway, I have since learned that oxytocin helps with let-down, prolactin stimulates milk production, and the hormone, progesterone, stimulates the formation of the milk glands.

SOOOOO, since I've been doing "everything" I can... except, the news about progesterone for milk glands is new to me... I'm up-ing my yam and egg yolk intake. But, I'm thinking of taking maca for hormonal balance and hope that my progesterone will be normal (I actually do not know if it is at a normal level, I never got tested for progesterone nor prolactin levels)... but, can it work? Will my body be able to 'make' more glandular tissue at this point - 2 months after delivery - to aid in up-ing my milk supply? ...especially with the use of Goat's Rue.

From what I've read, it's important to stop progesterone supplementation before birth, as progesterone is the hormone in pregnancy that causes milk to dry up and could cause problems with lactation after birth.
Not sure what progesterone does a couple months post-partum, but I might look into it further before upping your progesterone significantly.

Hmmm. Looks like I have a lot more reading to do!!!!

I thought progesterone was higher in our bodies...???

I just spoke with the midwives (didn't ask about this specifically). I asked her about taking my basal temperature for NFP and she mentioned it wouldn't work because of the hormone change PP. She also mentioned estrogen is lower... explaining that it keeps one lubricated for intercourse and how one would be drier PP. So, I assumed I couldn't check my mucus for NFP. Anyway, with that, I just assumed progesterone was higher PP.

Well, fortunately, Maca is just supposed to balance hormones! I'm not yet convinced it has helped me (though, only used it for 3 days now).
