Pain in urethra and bladder, but not a uti? (cross posted from my DDC)

I have been having really bad pain in my urethra and bladder since thursday. I went to the dr. did a pee test, she said it looked clear (not a uti) but she would treat me with antibotics anyway, since i was having so much pain...and she figured if they sent it out for a culture it probably will be pos (because of the pain) so i should start them right away. Well now it's sunday and i've been on them since thursday and i'm still in a lot of pain.

The only thing is that it is NOT a burning pain. It's a hurting, sharpish, pain that just hurts all the way up...like i can feel the connection from the opening all the way up to the bladder. It hurts the most when i "open" to go pee and then hurts for a while afterwards like at least 20 minutes and with general pain all day. I feel like the antibiotics are not working at all so do you think i have something different than a UTI??? Or is it possible for the antibiotics to not work?? Or what is going on??? any ideas are welcome, it reallllly hurts.

p.s i never heard back from the dr. if the culture came back pos or not

That sounds like an "odd" pain and doesn't necessarily point to interstitial cystitis but look it up and see if you have any of the other symptoms....

apparently i have "strep" in my bladder...and here I thought you could only get it in your throat!! lol.

I'm on a stronger antibiotic now and feeling a little bit better..

Wow, I never heard of that.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

That is interesting. However, my DD got it on her anus (EWWWWW) so nothing surprises me.
