Cloth wipes for beginners

So, we're expecting our first baby in about a month. Definitely cloth diapering, and planning to use cloth wipes too. I cut a bunch of flannel yesterday, and then realized while I know how to wipe the baby (water, maybe some soap if needed, etc)...I don't know what to do with the poopy wipe.

I understand that its fine to wash breastfed babies' poop in the washer (the diapers and the wipes), but does this really work?

We have a sprayer that is soon to be attached to toilet, but it seems awkward to spray a yucky wipe. And, having a poopy wipe in the diaper pail seems extra stinky.

And, for those sticky newborn poops?

What do you all do to wash your wipes? Any tips?

Throw them in the bucket with the dirty diapers. I don't spray anything. I shake off solids once we get to that point.

I never bothered spraying anything, once we get to the more solid poop stage I do shake off in toilet but until then I just throw everything into our pail together and do my normal rinse/wash cycles.

I do not dunk bf poop - wipes or diapers. For toddler poo, I do rinse both. But, I've noticed if you use flannel wipes, the toddler poop does come out in the wash, it's the terrycloth that poop really sticks too and I have to rinse.

I've found this to be the case for us, too. I really like flannel, sherpa, and velour for wipes. We use terry for more of the hands and face cloths here.

I'll wet a few wipes under the tap before changing the diaper, then toss everything in the pail together. Works like a charm.

i've never rinsed a wipe. i use cheap terry washcloths and have never had an issue with them not getting clean.
