my nb isn't going through many dipes yet but the poopy ones are bad. i'd hate to run a load for just a handful of prefolds but don't have energy to wash by hand. is it a bad idea to throw in some of her clothes? i'd be washing on a cold cycle followed by a hot with extra rinse...also lady clothpads do they need a separate wash? i just don't want the poopy pf's to sit around for a week until i get enough for a full load. help! and thanks!

I always wash my mam pads with cloth diapers if I can (ie when I have a kid in diapers).
I wouldn't do diapers with clothing - too hard on the clothes, IMHO, to get the diapers clean enough.
I found that in the newborn stage I was easily going through 12 changes per 24 hours, so in 2 days I had a good sized load ( and was running out of diapers).

When I do a mixed load like that I usually give the really filthy items a pre-soak/rince before adding everything else.

I've found that washing only 12-15 diapers gets them way cleaner in our front loader, then stuffing it full.

I have washed rags, towels, mama cloth, etc.. with diapers before.

In that situation, I would presoak and rinse out the poop, then add the clothes. That's what I do with clothing that gets peed on. mama cloth I'd probably just throw in the mix without a second thought. As long as it all comes out smelling clean. But I would be concerned about the longevity of the clothing if it gets washed too much.
