Birthday gift for 4 yo?

I really try to limit dd's toys to basics and open ended toys. So far she has a wooden farm, a basic dollhouse, a kitchen set, log blocks, playsilks, wooden people and animals, and a doll stroller. she also has a waldorf doll.

I really don't want to get her more toys just because it's her birthday...but is there anything I'm missing? A simple toy? One that inspires play, or has to do with the natural world?

She just learned to ride a two wheeler, and I'm looking for a bike (any recs??) but I'm not sure I'll find one in time.

Thanks in advance!!

How about a simple handwork basket with thick yarn for finger knitting and embroidery floss, a blunt needle, felt or burlap for sewing. Or art supplies or books. Nice musical instruments is another idea.

i'm with Jen--consumable gifts are great after a certain age, because it certainly does continue to develop or begin to develop new skills. it's something that needs to be replenished.

I'd add wooden beads and yarn/string/leather for making necklaces and bracelets to the list of consumables. This also gives her an opportunity to make gifts for others rather than purchasing something.
