Trader Joe's "fresh" salsa with a sell by date of Aug 16th. It looks ok...

Hmmm. I usually like to use things within a week of the sell by date, so that would be cutting it close. I think it would be okay.

What are the ingredients? If it's got vinegar, I would. That's only a few days; it's not like it's dated last December. And tomatoes and vinegar are so acidic, that it's unlikely it's actually spoiled.

It smells fine - it's a rather vinegar-y salsa, and smells the same as usual. I'm thinking the vinegar probably keeps things from growing.

Chances are good youd be able to smell it. Salsa usually would ferment. If it smells fine, id eat it.

If it smells good, sure. If I think it's a little iffy but not obviously bad, then I'd use it to cook something. We make our own salsa and use any 'old' salsa that's been left in the fridge for a little too long to make carne guisada or as a marinade for pork loin (just did this tonight).

If it smells okay, I'd eat it. Use by dates are usually fairly conservative.

I'd eat it, absolutely. I pay no attention to best before dates. It it looks fine, smells fine and tastes fine, it's probably... fine? LOL

As long as it smells fine sure... salsa ferments and smells *AWFUL* when its gone bad. Trust me!!

If it smells okay do a small taste test (like, your finger dipped in it) and see if it makes you gag...if not, eat away!
