Figuring out due date - what to tell my midwives?

I think I *might* be pregnant (v. faint 2nd line on the test, day before AF is due). I also know when I ovulated as we were TTC. It was just over 3 wks from first day of LMP to day of ovulation (that's how my cycles go lately). I know that my midwife will calculate based on a 28 day cycle from LMP, even if I tell her I'm SURE about when I O'd. So do I 'move' the first date of my LMP when I go in for my first appt? We're hoping for a 2nd homebirth, so I don't want to risk going too far post-dates. I guess I could ask for an early U/S, but last pg I only got on U/S, at 18 wks (aside from 3 b/c DS was breech at term!), and I'd like to keep the U/Ss to a minimum.

Any thoughts?

Are you sure they will insist on using a 28 day cycle? At my m/w, they ask if you are on a 28 day cycle.

Also, with my dd, I honestly didn't know when the first day of my LMP was but I knew exactly when she was conceived- I knew I was ovulating and dh and I had dtd that morning. After we went out for breakfast, I had a stabbing pain in my abdomen I attributed to ovulation & I thought, Oh, my, I just conceived a baby So I insisted to the m/w (and u/s techs and anyone else) that I didn't know the first day of LMP but I knew date of conception. They looked at me funny but had no choice but to believe me. DD was born 2 days after her due date based on that

So you could say you aren't sure about the LMP but know when you ovulated.

Knowing my O date... I did change my LMP (it was only one day off, but hey that one day may make a difference if I hit 42 weeks!) for my doctor

for my midwife, I outright told her i gave my doctor a different date HOWEVER, my midwife is fully aware of BBT charting and such and trusts that I know my body well enough.

Granted, it was not like I was arguing a week... rather 1 day... but I know she wouldn't have questioned me for a week either.

If you KNOW your midwife will question it, I would give an adjusted LMP.

i find it odd that your mw would question it.... but if that's the case i wouuld give her the fake lmp.. lmp means nothing... my lmp before i concieved this time was like 6weeks before i ovulated.. so we went from ovulation day and estimated a fake lmp for thier charts.

I would fake it as well. I had a m/c (my 1st prg) and then conceived DD right after, so my lmp was way off - no period between m/c and 2nd preg. Whenever I tried to call a nurse or a doc, they kept telling me that I was really like 4 months preg or whatever which was nuts (I was really like 5 weeks preg at the time)! After a couple of times, I got sick of having to re-live and re-explain the m/c so I just back-calculated a fake lmp and then suddenly everyone was happy to give me mny "first" OB appt. Geez, you think people who work in OB office know about pregnancies and m/cs and such!

Yeah i adjusted mine to make it look like i o'd on CD14, since I never do.

I would only do that if I had temp for a long while and had very clear charts, I do in both cases.

Yep, i altered my dates too. I know I Oed on CD 24 so adjusted my dates accordingly so that I didnt have to explain my wacky cycles.
For me i am going for a repeat VBAC didnt want my dates to affect that.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm going to give it some more thought. My first appt wouldn't be for a few weeks anyway...
