Knitting/crocheting Wool Covers..HELP!!

Hello all
I have been hiding over in the Due Date Club forum for Sept....im expecting a lil lady in, well, september..lol. I am 35 weeks and getting my cloth diaper stash together. My mother knits/crochets (awesome right?) and she is dying to make something for the baby (she already made a beautiful blanket). It hit me that I have my own personal wool cloth cover sweat shop!! YAY!

So she found one pattern for a cover, a crochet pattern, but one leg opening is stretchy and the other is not (because thats the first chain stitch). We are having a HELL of a time trying to find knit or crochet diaper cover patterns for a newborn.

Can you ladies help me out? Any patterns you use? Links? Suggestions?

TIA!!!

Youll have better luck finding what you need in the yarn crafts section. There's a sticky at the top of the forum w links to patterns. I really like the little turtle knits pattern and the curly purly for knit. For crochet, i believe theres a ladybug one thats supposed to be good. I crocheted a free one off someones blog - i posted a picture of it there a few months ago, along w a link to the blog if you can find that thread.

If your mom is on Ravelry, the Vanilla soaker pattern is really nice. There's also one called Picky Pants with a ton of variations.

Are you on Ravelry? I've made four of these in different sizes because I like it so much:

And two of these:

The sheepy sack is really useful for newborns...

I second the vanilla on Ravelry - just finished it last month and we LOVE it. It was a fun knit too.

I used the Curly Purly one and liked it well enough that I never tried anything else (at least not for soakers). It's free:

My MIL also knits and made me several of the Frantic Mama Knitted Soaker Pattern on ravelry. It's free, and has sizes for NB, S, M and L.

I also recommend searching on raverly. When I knit a soaker I normally use the Juliette skirty pattern (which you should definitely get your mom to make for your dd) and just skip the skirty part.

I'm knitting the Picky Pants pattern from Little Turtle Knits and really like it. It has newborn, small, medium, large, and toddler sizes. I think it cost $10, but it's nice for a beginner (like me) because it's pretty easy! It's also really customizable - and your Mom could put a super, super cute ruffle on the bottom of some pairs of pants for your little girl! If none of the free ones work out (because I'd definitely try them first ), I think this one is nice.
