Christian perspective Scope & Sequence for each grade? Those w/o curriculum, what do you follow?

HI,
For those who doesn't use curriculum for your schooling, how do you decide which subject to teach (other than the subject that your child is interested in)? Also does anyone know where I can find a scope and sequence for Christian based schooling? I was referencing "What your child needs to know" for each grade but I don't like some of their stories featured and didn't agree with some of the content.
My son is 8, a great reader and loves to read but doesn't like math and writing. I'm trying to find a ways to incorporate math and writing so it is not too much "schooling" but he can still find interest in learning...
Thanks in advance.

why not just google a scope and sequence from a christian curriculum. for example, i know abeka, christian light education, bob jones, etc. would have such a thing for free. it is going to be based more-so on state standards, but it may give you a point of reference just the same. as for writing and math, that may be more to do with your son's readiness and learning style. you could look at charlotte mason perhaps, as that is a rather gentle approach and may fall in line with what you're looking for? it focuses more on copywork & may be easier for your son. i also like ambleside (and christians use both of these without issues), but i'm not sure why you disapproved of the CK sequence, so it may not appeal to you.

anyway. hth.

ETA - check out "living math" as well. that may be a great fit for your son.

agreeing - check out several Christian curricula and order catalogs from them, then you'll see what they cover each year. Plenty of people use Sonlight's catalog as a reading list, for example, whether or not they use the Instructor's Guide. Check the above, Sonlight, Heart of Dakota, Tapestry of Grace, My Father's World, etc.

Might work? It's free and gives a basic scope and the CM ideas are to integrate those topics and introduce in a gentle way. There is a lot of available on CM out there.

You could also use state standards and add in your own bible, character work, literature selections, etc. to meet those standards.
