Hi

Am desperate.

Anyone in the UK and managed to get hold of Dr Jacks APNO? I have tried everything else and (now 8 weeks in) the thrush remains and its agony.

Please help.

Owww! Poor you!

Have you tried everything in this leaflet (which contains the UK protocols for diagnosing and treating thrush - unfortunately not all health-care professionals are aware of this, so am posting just in case something has been missed): http://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org....t_Feb_2009.pdf

If you're having trouble sourcing what you need to make up the APNO, you could try calling one of the bf helplines to see if they can help:

ABM helpline: 08444 122949 (9:30 am - 10:30pm every day)
Calls to this number from a BT landline will cost no more than 5p per minute. Charges from other landlines or mobiles may vary, contact your telephone service provider for details. Please be aware that If you ring from a mobile phone it is unlikely that you will speak to someone in your local area, as the system is unable to identify local areas from mobile telephones. This also happens if you withhold your number when you call.

National Breastfeeding Helpline 0300 100 0212
Calls to this number cost the same as a landline call to a 01 or a 02 number. And the price is the same for calls from mobiles. 0300 numbers are included in any discount schemes or inclusive call minutes that you may already have with landline or mobile phone operators.

(Note that the NBH is jointly run by ABM and BfN counsellors, so it's possible that you may get the same person if you ring both.)

Hope you get some relief - soon!

Best wishes

Welcome to MDC!
Thrush is horrible to deal with, you can try swabbing your nipples with a diluted solution of Apple Cider Vinegar, get some Oregano Capsules 3, 3 x a day for 3 weeks, or try the candida diet - I've just done a couple of weeks at a time because it is really hard BUT it does make a difference and personally as a last resort it really made a difference, now if I feel anything coming on I just do this for a week maybe two if I can handle it and it works out fine. You can contact your LLL Leader as well - not sure where you are in the UK but there are groups scattered around - some better than others but it maybe worthwhile giving them a go as well.
Hope you get things sorted out.
