I'm trying to decide if this is something worth going to with DD. I know I'd have a lot of fun but don't want us to pay to get there and it be too much for her. She's nearly 2.5 and doesn't frighten easily unless she sees that groundhog commercial. She thinks they're hurting the animals and that bothers her.

I haven't been but would love to go. From what I understand, it's not scary but more fun. Have you checked out the Disboards? There are always threads on this over there.

I want to go too...very badly. DH wants to go only because it gives us a chance to be in the park later at night. I'll check out the Disboards. I read some reviews and watched a clip of the parade which I guess might scare some kids. There's something about Disney that turns me into an 8 year old.

I haven't gone but Ive had tons of friends take their children. From what I was told most of the stuff is just plain fun. There were a few scary moments but they were either optional (like character signing stuff that you can avoid) or easy to distract for like the 5 seconds that they happened.
There are tons of pictures of the event online (try allearsnet.com) so you can get an idea. A lot depends on what your child finds scary to, my daughter thinks the pictures are really funny and wanted one printed out to put in her room so Im sure she will be fine if we ever get to go.

Yes! Go!
Disboards and AllEars.net are AWESOME places to go for more information, as PP have suggested. You will find all kinds of reviews there to ease your mind.
I've been to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party several times (without children), and I have never seen a single frightened child. It is VERY child-friendly and the characters are dressed up as cute characters, not scary. The parade is AWESOME...almost worth the price of admission right there. They have trick-or-treat stations, and lots of attractions are open during that time. Most of them are walk-ons.
My suggestion is to have ALL of you dress up. It is so much fun to see the adults in costume too.
I highly recommend this party for little ones.

We went in 2008. Honestly, we will never go again. It was a waste of money.
I had been as a little girl and it was WONDERFUL! But now honestly it was just expensive trick-or-treating.
There were not many characters around, many rides were closed, and it was packed.
We were very disappointed with the experience.
They have free trick or treating in the shopping district of Disney World....cant remember what it is called.
