Newborn is very warm...

Not feverish or anything, but very warm. I don't like to wear her in a wrap for too long, because her face and head get sweaty. We keep our house at around 75 degrees, so not really hot. She was in the hospital for 4 days because of very rapid breathing. They took 2 chest x-rays, did an echocardiogram and took spinal, blood, and urine cultures only to find nothing. They diagnosed a virus and sent us home. Our regular ped saw her Friday and though her breathing is still rapid at times, he thinks she is fine. After all of that worry, I am just no ready to relax yet. Please help put my mind at ease!

FWIW my DS was and still is really hot frequently. We cosleep and sometimes both of us were just drenched in sweat. It's just how he is and he has so far been really healthy overall. Some babies are just hotter than others. I wouldn't worry.

what is she wearing in the wrap while you have her? I'd hope nothing but a diaper, you're sure to keep her warm enough otherwise. My DD runs hot too. Take the temp and if it's fine, you're good!

I have a hot baby too. If she isn't running a fever I am sure she is fine. We just keep our baby in a diaper and t-shirt or just a onsie. She is perfectly healthy so I wouldn't worry! FWIW, DD1 was also a space heater as a baby and still is at 3, especially when she sleeps.

DD has always been a super-warm baby. She wakes up sweaty with "pillow face" after every nap, and she's usually just in a short-sleeve onesey. Once in a while, when I get a little paranoid, I'll take her temp, but it's always been fine.

I'm always cold, so it amazes me that this tiny thing that's half me could be so warm all the time!

both my girls run hot & sweaty. we babywear also & even in cooler months, they would either be in their diaper only or a onesie if still froggied. if legs out, just a dipe & socks, pants or babylegs.

people are frequently asking me if dd2 is warm enough. gets annoying actually.

My baby's also a hot & sweaty little guy, has been from day one. I also get people always saying he's so cold, dress him warmer, but meanwhile he's sweating! I think some people are just warmer than others, it has to do with constitution and body type I suppose. As long as you and the ped are keeping an eye on her breathing and it all checks out, no need to worry I'd say.

V and I both run hot, too, and for babywearing and bedsharing, when it's really warm, I usually have her in just a diaper, but with a t-shirt on me to act as a sweat buffer.

She was born in December and even though we kept the apartment quite cool, she and I were SOAKED with sweat at night for the first month or so, until I realized that skin-to-skin sounded great, but we really needed something to wick the moisture away, and started wearing a shirt or nightie.

all of my kids were hot little babies. I thought it was that dd1 and dd2 were born in summer in the hot desert- but ds was born on christmas eve and he ran hot too.

ds' breathing was rapid for the first couple weeks of life... my midwife expressed concern a couple times but everything else was always fine. I think if you have had all those test ran and they say he is fine- going with your gut should be safe.

even here in northern california- where its always about 68 degrees in my house (except for today)- my ds sweats on and off like a madman while he naps in the wrap.

I've got a little furnace here too. I can be wearing DS in a linen ring sling or a mei tai and I am freezing and he overheats, even when it is about 65-70 degrees. I can't babywear for very long.

DS1 was a very hot baby. He used to get terrible heat rash - in DECEMBER! lmao... I had to make sure he was very lightly dressed. Sometimes the fabric you use helps too. I find bamboo clothes to be the best. He still is a hot child. He just has really great circulation! lol ...unlike me!
DS2 is pretty average. He is worn in a sling for a lot fo the day and is never in much because of that.
