Beginning TTC

Hello everyone! I'm new to the board, as well to TTC. (This is my first month trying). I haven't begun charting yet, but I've been reading many fertility books. (I'm unsure of where an intro like this would go on the site, so forgive me if I have the wrong place! Just thought I'd share in the TTC excitement!)

To give a little information about me:

My name is Jill, I'm 22 and got married 6 months ago. When I was 19, I found out that I was in the early stages of Ovarian Cancer, which took one of my ovaries. The doctors gave me until I'm 30 to have children, and after that they want to give me a hysterectomy to ensure a cancer free life from here on out. My husband and I both have always wanted a large family (I come from a family of 6 children, he comes from a family of 4 kids.)Though with less than eight years to go, it seems like we won't achieve our large family dream...but we'd like to have as many as we can within those eight years, so it's time to get cracking!

I had two negative pregnancy tests in the last four months when I was sure I was pregnant, but at the time we weren't trying to concieve, though we weren't going out of our way to be too protective against it. When I thought I was pregnant last month, I was quite devasted when the test turned out negative. This month, we've decided that we're financially able to begin trying to have a baby and we're definitely ready in every other way (we even have a nursery all set up!) and we couldn't be more excited!

Here's to hoping for a soon!

Hi there! Welcome to MDC

I'm brand new here as well, and trying to conceive as of this week. I'm 24, and my DP and I are so excited to start a family, too. Wishing you a wonderfully speedy conception!! *fingers crossed* Keep us updated.

Also, I kinda like that our usernames are similar. Yay for optimistic future mamas!

I'm working on trying to conceive this week as well (though since my original aim was next month, I may be too late. =/ ) I'm so exciting to be TTC!

Good luck!

Welcome to both of you!

Mommy*Wishes, if you only have one ovary, does that mean you ovulate every other month? Charting could really help you figure out your ovulation patterns so you can time BDing effectively.

Hope your stay with us in this forum is short and sweet!

No, I do ovulate every month. My ovary remaining now acts as both of them, and tends to work overtime most months with my extending ovulation.

I'm reading books on charting now and am planning on beginning one starting with my next cycle.

I also have one ovary (although luckily I lost mine to a dermoid cyst rather than cancer -- so sorry to hear that!) and ovulate monthly from the left side.

Best wishes for many timely BFP's especially under the time crunch!!!

Mommy*Wishes - Welcome! I'm new here on this forum too, but am just starting my ninth cycle TTC.
I wanted to tell you that I have a friend that has only one ovary, and she got pregnant her very first month trying. I hope that's what happens for you, too!
Good luck!
