are some CDs less bulky?

DS wore sposies today b/c he's been having some messy teething poops & I was tired of dealing with all the yucky diapers. I already miss the CDs - the sposies look so saggy on him! BUT, I did notice that his clothes seem to fit better without all the cloth bulk & it seemed like he could move around easier. Is this just my imagination? My one complaint about the cloth has been that they're so bulky! Are there any trimmer fit CDs out there?

I've only ever tried one brand, it worked, so we stuck with it. We use Flip - both the stay-dry inserts & the cotton prefolds. The prefolds are very bulky, but the stay-dry ones do seem better. I guess I'm wondering if any CD could possible compare to the thinness of a sposie. Maybe not possible, but just wondering . . .

Yes it's possible.

This is one of my only complaints about cloth dipes. I've just learned to buy clothes that are looser fitting. But now with our second baby, any new cloth diapers I've bought have been trimmer fitting. I'm really liking Blueberries. With dd1 I preferred fuzzi bunz for this reason, but the blueberries are even better.

Hemp makes for very trim diapers. One trim combination I like to use is a Bummis cover (SWW or original) with a hemp jersey insert. We also have an original style Swaddlebees pocket diaper with a hemp insert; it's actually the same thickness as an unused disposable.

Personally though, I never minded the "bulk" - my son especially needed the cloth diapers to hold his pants up. It was quite a struggle to keep him properly clothed once he was in underwear, .

Youre usually trading absorbency for trimness. Sugar plum babies and loveybums are both very trim fitteds, but both are only one-pee dipes for my heavy wetter. We mostly use dreameze which are med bulk but good absorbency.

We use FuzziBunz sized and one-size dipes and they fit fairly trim. Sometimes I do have to size up DD's pants, but I usually find that it's because that particular brand of pants runs small (and in all honesty, right now she doesn't wear pants that much.. it's summer!!). And in response to the "trading trimness for absorbency," that is definitely NOT the case with FBs. The new FBs have a 4 layer insert which we've been able to use at night alone with no leaks.

We used daisy doodles AI2 bikini cut diapers which I found to be just as trim as a sposie.

Size AIOs are generally trim, nearly like a sposie.

This is all great info! Whenever I get around to buying more dipes, I'll look at some of these brands/cuts.
Thanks!!

I myself like flats with wool covers as clothing over. For my toddler during the day, two flats (one as the diaper, one as an insert) with wool shorts or wool pants works just fine. Trim, but I don't ahve to worry about fit under regular clothes anyway.

When I want to wear the cute store bought clothes, I just throw a thirsties cover over. I like them more than bummis for the gusset.

I really do love a big butt though... I like how she feels in my arms with the fluffy butt.. easier to hold I guess. Plus, its just plain cute hehe

fwiw, I don't find it to be true about trim cuts being less absorbent. It's more about the quality of the diaper. A trim fitting diaper can also have an added insert without changing the cut too much, especially if using a hemp or bamboo insert which can be uber absorbent without adding much bulk.

Side Snap

Side snapping diapers tend to fit trimmer than front closures.

Knicker Nappies are very similar to Fuzzy Bunz but they are side snapping, and cut narrower. Mind you, DH can't get his hand in to stuff them, even though he can stuff Fuzzy Bunz no problem.

With our girls they just wore dresses all the time, and the big cloth diaper made them puff out and look extra cute. With the boys I try to diaper with the absorbency where they need it in the front and with not so much over their bums.
