How do you clean with vinegar?

I want to make a counter spray .... but I don't want it to smell like pickles or douche!!! hahaha

Vinegar, water, and EO? What kind of eo? orange? peppermint? How much of each ingredient?

It seems like I have seen to mix vinegar with baking soda.... but I am confused. Isn't that how you make a volcano???

Also - I put straight white vinegar into the jet dry thing in the dishwasher. It works wonders! But there is a light vinegar smell in the sink and dw. It isn't on the dishes, so I guess that is ok. DH hasn't said anything, and he hates hates hates pickle smell. But should I cut it with water or add essential oil?

thanks wise mamas!

For my dishwasher, I just use straight vinegar.

For cleaning, I have a spray bottle and water and vinegar (half and half). It does smell like vinegar while I'm cleaning, but it doesn't last long. You can add an EO, but I don't bother since the vinegar smell doesn't last.

I just pour a puddle of vinegar on whatever I'm cleaning (floor, countertop, flat-top stove) and wipe it around. When the vinegar dries, it doesn't smell like anything at all.

Same here.

You get used to the smell - at first, my DH complained. But the smell disappears once it dries. I promise my house doesn't smell like salad, and I use it to clean counters, bathrooms, and so on.

Another vote for yeah, it smells while you're cleaning, but the vinegar evaporates quickly (like alcohol does) and the smell disappears. I use a solution of water and vinegar. I don't measure but it's probably 2/3 water, or a bit less. In the kitchen, I add a bit of castille soap for grease-fighting.

I add tea tree oil or orange oil to mine.

I hate the vinegar smell so I added a lemon EO to mine and LOVE the way it smells so fresh and citrusy (is that a real word)

Dumb dumb dumb question of the day - does the vinegar disinfect things? I want to move away from clorox wipes and windex but I love that clorox disinfects things....

Not dumb at all!
In short, yes, it does.
Here's an article explaining it in depth.
