Diapering woes

*sigh* What do you mamas use for diapering with a newborn/infant? We've always used bummis prefolds with our daughter, but we started earlier with her and she was almost always used a cover. We loved them, but they're no longer working for me with our second child.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what brand of prefolds are absorbent, soft (and STAY soft after washing), and don't stain too badly?

Or, does anyone have any other suggestions on easy ways to EC without all this hassle? I'm starting to prefer disposables, but they can get expensive to change at every miss. We have diaper belts, but I hate them for poop misses.

Thanks.

Ugh. I'm in the same boat. I hate the expense and waste of disposables, but the CDs I bought take so long to get on and off!

I was thinking of buying some baby panties and liners or the drop front style diapers I saw on one of the EC shops. They were $18 a piece tho, and with so many misses, it's just not cost effective yet!

Just wanted to update that I'm trying liners with bummi covers while I'm at home with my baby. No bulky prefolds, and one liner absorbs a pee.

... poops with this method is another matter

I like EC Store Favorite EC Pants for waterproof ones (in the house with a wee one I prefer the non-waterproof kinds). Very easy to get on and off. I also like a prefold with a prefold belt for a newborn around the house.

Hey sgmom! I used training pants starting at around 3 months, they just take up less space in the wash!!!

I like this pull up/down idea for when out of the house! I'll look into it a bit more.

Looks like for at home though, we'll be sticking to prefolds with a belt/snappi. Unless I can find a less "puddly" solution for when he gets older (prefolds without a cover never held a pee for my daughter).
