Anyone taking New Chapter Prenatals?

I was doing some research on soy isoflavones and came up with a thought. Soy taken all cycle long can prohibit fertility. But taken only on certain days it enhances fertility, according to what I have found so far. I haven't started SI yet so I have no personal experience.

I was taking a regular women's multi (Nature's Plus Source of Life) and supplementing with extra folic acid when I got my BFP in Jan. Then I switched to New Chapter Prenatals. I mc'd in March but figured I would finish the NC bottle that I had. But it does have soy in the ingredients but it doesn't list how much. I'm wondering if it is enough soy to prohibit fertility.

I have e-mailed New Chapter to ask them the amount of soy. Hopefully, they will respond to me.

Are there any other folks taking NC Prenatals? Any idea of the amount of soy in them? It may not be enough to worry about and didn't warrant an amount on the label.

I'm taking New Chapter prenatals (the 3-a-day kind). I also wondered about the soy (why it was in there, basically).

You may have seen this already, but here is what they say on the website:

Quote:
The Whole Truth About Cultured Soy
Cultured soy is one of the five sacred grains of the Chinese herbal tradition and is the foundation of “superfoods” such as tempeh and miso. Traditional cultures consumed soy only if it was fermented – for good reason. While non-fermented soy can disrupt absorption and normal activity of nutritive compounds, modern science has found that cultured soy actually enhances nutritive bioavailability and promotes normal cell growth, heart, and bone health.*

New Chapter Multi’s utilize only fermented soy to deliver these compelling benefits supported by each formula’s whole-food vitamins, minerals and herbs.
It sounds like the fermented soy is being used to enhance absorbtion. I can't imagine it would be enough quantity to disrupt fertility. If that were the case, I can't imagine anyone being fertile in this country, given the amount of soy most people consume!

I do, if it doesn't even list the amount, it must not have been worth the ink to print it on the label

I take them, and hadn't noticed this. Please let us know if you hear back from them.

Here is the reply I received.
Your may be interested to know that the amount of soy in a tablet of our Whole Food Probiotic Nutrients, which includes our New Chapter's Perfect Prenatal, contains just 1 mg of isoflavones, whereas a typical soy food meal would contain 40-50mg. Hence, our vitamins are more like adding a dash of soy sauce to your food rather than eating a soy meal.

I'm impressed that they did get back to me and were pretty timely about it too.

I don't think that 1mg will have too much of an effect.

Hey everyone..
I have been taking these prenatal vitamins since 2004. I had my DD in 2007 and have been ttc#2 for a year and a half. These vitamins are awesome..just verrry expensive

I love them too. My sister used to work at a health food store and we got them for 65% off...I loved them even more then.

But I do like to switch brands every now and then. DH and I just started taking Nature's Way Alive. We both really like those. I didn't even see if they had a prenatal version though. But this one has 100mg of B6 and 800mcg of folic acid already. It actually states "for reproductive health" on the box beside those two ingredients.

The only problem is that they give both of us an upset stomach if not taken with food. I believe the stomach issues are because they have enzymes in them and there is no food in your stomach and nothing for the enzymes to breakdown. It doesn't happen when I take them with food.
