Dipes for getting started with PL-ing.

So, we have BGs and Flips, all stay-dry options. I have been thinking of getting some dipes that DD would know are wet, i.e. prefolds or something. The theory is that this would help her with potty learning. Yes?

I was brainstorming about GMD brown edge prefolds. Is there a better choice out there?

There are lots of fitted diapers out there without the stay dry inner layer. That's what I'm going with this time. We EC and I've always used prefolds but they aren't convenient for taking off and on quickly for PLing (unless you use a prefold belt but that has it's own issues). I wouldn't go to prefolds just so you can switch again later and go to trainers or fitted for PLing.

Which fitteds are you using? I as thinking prefolds for cost savings, but if there is a nice, inexpensive fitted out there...

I am clueless about trainers. I'm not really 100% PLing her, just thinking about getting out the potty and seeing what happens. I am a first time mama and don't know how to do this stuff.

Only is if I was having more children would I find a diaper specific for pling beside something cheap like a pf. I have a training child right now and we just take her pf off. I use no cover around the house to make this quicker.

With ds I was using pockets and just kept using them. They did have the stay dry liner but he was pl day and night by his 2nd B day regardless.

I would look at Little Lions seconds for prefolds as they are cheap!

You can get cotton fitteds from sassy cloth for $6. More expensive than PF but less work. I'm all about saving time and effort now with three kids.

what about just laying something inside of the stay dry liner, so there's cotton against her skin? could even just be pieces of old T-shirt or something.

Good recommendation- laying something that would help her feel wetness (cotton, etc) on the top of her stay drys.

I use FLIP covers and BUMMIS covers duing the day on my PL-ing toddler. Inside I have a Prefold folded around a bamboo or hemp insert/soaker. He often feels the wetness when he starts pottying, then makes the flow stop before running in to tell me he has to potty. He's nearly three and is already using the toilet 3-5 times a day to potty (whereas my others were not even thinking about using the toilet at this stage). I contribute it to him being able to feel the wetness, since I have used this method since he was about 18 months old. (I was not "enlightened" to cloth when my oldest two were babies, so they used disposables.)

I have never had such an easy PL-ing experience before.. it's nice! Sometimes he realizes he has to go before wetting the diaper- which is a super plus. The idea of having a PL-ed kiddo in the first few months of age 3 is very exciting. Now, if I could just get him to poo in the toilet regularly.
