What I need to know about starting BLW late - 10 months

I just started reading BLW and have realized that I am late in starting him on eating solids on his own. My DS is almost 10 months and has his top and bottom 2 teeth. I have been giving him solids since around 6-7 months but pretty much everything has been in a mesh feeder. He has also gnawed on large pieces of cucumber but now with his teeth he recently had some and took off too big a chunk and starting gagging - unfortunately my in-laws were over at the time as well I have read that the gagging is a part of the learning process though so I guess you just watch them more carefully when they have teeth? What are some foods that I should start with? TIA!!

Sounds like you're right in the right place to go for it! There are tons of foods you can try. I say go for just about any fruit or vegetable (steamed probably) that he can easily pick up. Stick shapes or chip shapes tend to work well from what I have seen. I personally plan to avoid grains until over a year, preferably closer to 18 months, since the baby's digestive system isn't well equipped to deal with them until later than is traditional.
