What Sugar to buy

I always knew processed sugar wasn't healthy but I didn't realize that it was bleached and they use lime in the processing until recently. We basically use sugar for 2 things sweet tea and coffee. What I want to know is what sugar is best. The raw sugar doesn't have bleach but it is still processed with lime. Does anyone know if lime is bad? Also, does the organic raw sugar have lime too.

Which sugar is best?

Why do you think lime is so bad? I has been used for foods for eons.

there are lots of things that are processed with lime

I personally don't have a problem with it and the other things as well and I like RAW sugar for the taste and view it as I do a finishing salt (they all have different tastes as well)-moderation is a key--personally we don't do sweet tea but you could add honey as one of the many options for that.

I use honey, palm sugar, maple syrup and molasses. honey maple syrup or palm sugar all would be very suitible for sweet tea and coffee. I like them because they are unrefined so they don't spike my blood sugar quite as bad.

I prefer raw cane sugar (organic, when possible; sugar in the raw, when not) - don't know about the lime thing, though.

I use honey, maple syrup, dehydrated cane juice sugar (which looks just like regular sugar except its not quite as whiet, having not been bleached), and rapidurra or something like that for my brown sugar replacement.

Sugar in my tea and my coffee was the hardest thing to change when we decided to go more natural in our lives. A girlfriend recommended honey in my coffee. . .I thought this just sounded weird. I finally tried it and I LOVE IT!! I can't stand sugar in my coffee anymore, I now ask for honey when I'm out. Honey also tastes great in sweet tea and you need much less. In our house we try to use honey, maple syrup, and organic high quality brown sugar when baking. We've almost totally given up the white stuff (unless I'm baking and it's necessary, but I try to keep that to a minimum now).
