Should I stop eating dairy right before the baby is born? (x-posted to BF'ing forum)

I found that if I ate dairy while BF'ing DS1, he got really sick. He spit up anyway until he was about six months, but when I had dairy the spit up smelled worse and he looked really miserable. (He's back on dairy after his first few years off it, though now he's off gluten and corn.)

So I'm wondering if I should just start avoiding dairy before this next baby is even born, and maybe just trial it at some point. WWYD?

If/when another baby comes along, I think I'm going to stay off any foods that I think *I* don't deal with well. For me it's gluten and dairy and, sadly, I think chocolate--though I'm hoping to get my health a bit better and at least some dairy will be okay, not sure how that's going to work out. If I were digesting it completely, there wouldn't be any traces getting into my milk to bother the baby.

Did you ever cut out gluten from your diet? Could that have been involved in the spit-up? I think it was involved in my DD's spit-up, kid was still spitting up occasionally at 12 mos when her diet was mostly solids. She's 6 and still gluten intolerant.

Yes, I've been off dairy for about 3.5 years, since I took DS off it. I suppose it could have been the reason for the spit-up, but he had stopped by the time I cut it out of my diet. He also has a problem with corn, but again I didn't figure that out until he was much older (just this year, actually).
