Breech Home Birth?

Is there anyone who has had a breech baby at home or at a birth center? I recently had a home birth and my daughter was a surprise breech (bum first!) and I was lucky enough to stay home to deliver. Just looking to connect with others who have had a similar experience. Thanks!

I'm not the "community" you were looking for as I just envy your situation. I had a hospital birth w/my first. Unmed. labor and pushing until I heard "STOP PUSHING - THAT'S NOT A HEAD." My son was also frank breech/butt first - and I was SO FAR in I KNOW he would have been born - but did not know how to do that on my own I ended up with a T incision and am now pregnant w/number 2 and planning a HBAC I've always wondered if my story could have been more like yours if I'd had someone w/me that knew what they were doing/how to deliver breech I am HAPPY that you weren't "scarred" and got to have your baby born joyfully (If my experience is typical, I bet you worked HARD during labor/all back pain?) Again - HAPPY FOR YOU Hope this time I get to celebrate!

Hi- I had a surprise frank breech birth at a hospital about 5 years ago (has it been long?!) Make sure you go to the chiro- my little guy hurt my tailbone when and it grew all wonky- My chiro said it was b/c his head must have come down too hard and when I didn't get it pushed back in place it healed back wrong. I still have a lot of pain around the area.

He had severe bruising from his birth but it resolved! I will say I feel that the experience changed me- I learned so much about myself that night.

Hi there! Thanks for starting this thread. I had a planned breech homebirth this May, second baby and second hb. It was awfully stressful having to decide whether to stay home when I learned she was breech at 36 weeks. But she was in such a good frank position weeks later and my midwife was very skilled, so with the risks in mind I stayed home.

To me it didn't feel much different than my first birth-- same awful "crowning" sensation, surprisingly, and a bit more painful during labor, only ten minutes of pushing.

But it was interesting to see later on the video how she unfolded as she was born, it looked very natural and made me believe even more that breech babies are best left unhandled (the midwife only caught her after the top of her head cleared). It was butt, legs kicked down, torso, left arm, right arm, face, head. All very smooth, no tearing for me. My daughter was bruised but it faded in a couple of days.

OP: any other details about your birth you are willing to share? A surprise breech would be quite a surprise!

I actually just had a planned breech home birth on the 21st. It was my second home birth experience, and my 4th baby. Here is our birth story http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1255345

It was an amazing experience and in a way healing for me as I was a breech c-sec baby. I was very concerned about having to have a c-sec, but my midwife was skilled and extremely supportive of my ability to birth naturally. I'm thankful that I had the resources needed for a safe home delivery.
