How does coffee affect ones dieting

Does coffee slows down the dieting process? Is it the caffine in coffee that hinders the weight loss?

Hm, I've heard both versions: that it can help and that it can throw you off.
Years ago I read that caffeine can trigger sugar cravings (which would explain why it's not good when you're dieting). Given our "cultural imprint" of coffee / tea plus something sweet ("Kaffee und Kuchen" for Germans, coffee and doughnut, tea and biscuit, ...) it's no surprise that you could experience some unwanted side effect.
However, I feel that green tea doesn't have this effect. (Really, just imagine a Danish or chocolate chip cookie with green tea - it just isn't the same!)

I think it depends on what you are putting in your coffee. If you are loading up with cream and sugar then....yeah, not so good.

Coffee causes an insulin response. So first it takes away your appetite, then you get a blood sugar crash and NEED to eat. I think it's best for weight loss to not drink it on an empty stomach...

I agree. I feel like crap if I have coffee on an empty stomach. I try to have yogurt or something in my tummy before I have a cup. I use cream - but usually half and half or 1 carb little cups of creamers.
