Help the girl quit smoking!

Hi friends. What a shock today to discover my original plan to quit smoking after a month off sugar has to be backed up- I just started a new job that is pretty high stress after two months with no income. Let's just say that all the first paycheck got us was half-way caught up. And now only $1 left until the next payday as I got excited and sent a bill that probably shouldn't have gone yet. But, alas, it could be a blessing in disguise, no?

So--I'm almost over the w/d from sugar and related products (it's a long story but let's say I'm definitely a huge addict and have used that instead of nic for many years every time I have tried to quit), and I'm so very fearful that I'll turn to the other addiction once I don't have my trusty cigs. In my case the sugar is probably more harmful than the cigarettes.

Now the decision is really out of my hands, which is somewhat exciting--I mean, there's no squirreling around with money here, it just isn't available. So, no extra funds to get hooked up with nicotine replacement, but maybe cold turkey is the way to go.

anyway, if anyone has inspiration I could certainly use it! This is going to be a tough week.

You CAN do it!!
It isn't easy, but just keep at it! Maybe trying to exercise to replace the addictions - like, say 100 jumping jacks and some push ups everytime you get a major urge.
Or, maybe chewing gum (is that less than 1$ these days??)
Good Luck!!
Oh - and don't just do it for you, but do it for your DD. She deserves to have a smoke-free mama, don't you think??

First, I just wanna say YOU GO GIRL!
Sugar and nicotine are some of the hardest substances to kick ever. But it can be done and you can do it! The rewards are SO worth it, as you know - and the withdraw, though intense will not last forever.
Drink plenty of water and take extra vit c.
Walk
Breathe deeply
Try shifting into witness mode when it gets super intense. (watch yourself as a third party - "now she's craving a cigarette, now it's passing, now she's feeling better") This can be very helpful for recognizing that while we have addictions, our addictions are not who we are - they are temporary - they come, torture awhile, then go. Try not to cling!
If you are ever in a position to afford it, this stuff is awesome for natural help with cravings.
Good luck!!!

Thank you friends! I made it through the first 24 hours, which is longer than I've been without nicotine in like, 20 years. Know what? Anticlimactic. Surprisingly. If it goes this well for the next week I'll have to write up a program or something. wow.
