Food poisoning or tummy flu???

Hi! I'm 29 weeks along and just had the worst case of food poisoning/tummy flu ever. It was awful. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to tell if it was flu or food poisoning. Saturday am I felt really nauseous and I just thought I would feel better as the day progressed. WRONG! At about 2 pm I had 4 bouts of vomiting followed by diarrhea. Then I felt better, but by early evening I had the worst diarrhea and it lasted ALL night with chills and the most horrible gas and belching (sorry, TMI!). The next day was a bit better, but the diarrhea lasted until yesterday evening. Any ideas what this was and some reassurance that baby is ok would be really appreciated <3!

I had food poisoning at about 35 weeks with my last PG. It lasted about 36 hours with the symptoms you described. No problems with baby or me, just be sure to stay hydrated. My chiro said that vomiting later in pregnancy CAN cause baby to flip. Hope you feel better soon.

I had something similar around 30 weeks with my last pg. I think mine was a virus because (if I remember correctly) DS1 had been sick the week before. I had severe diarrhea and then vomitting ... it was a 24 hour thing. I became very dehydrated and had pretty bad contractions. Dr. just told me to keep my fluids up/electrolytes up.

i don't know of a way to tell the difference, but I had 24h stomach bug pregnant with ds. It was the worst I've ever had - possibly the sickest I've ever been and I did get very dehydrated. Midwife had me monitoring my rehydration with keto strips and I was able to avoid going in for an IV. Ds stayed put until 41+4 and was born very healthy.
