Pre-natals?

Anyone out there taking a good pre-natal vitamin? What should it contain and what should it NOT contain? Thanks!

I've always taken Rainbow Light before but this time it's Nature's Plus Ultra Prenatal. I'm much happier with this one. It has extra iron, I've always struggled with anemia before. I take my calcium liquid at a separate time since they interfere with each other.

I like Rainbow Light. I also take a probiotic (PB8) and Floradix.

I second the Nature's Plus Prenatals. I've had trouble with B vitamins making me feel sick in the past. I really like these. They're easy on the stomach and you only have to take 2 a day instead of 4 or 6 like some others. Note: I take them before bed to avoid nausea, so maybe that's part of my positive experience with them.

I like Garden of Life Vitamin Code raw Prenatals. They're uncooked, untreated and unadulterated, with no binders or fillers, no soy, dairy-free, gluten-free, contain some probiotics and ginger.

I've also tried the MegaFood Baby and Me Prenatal. But with those you are suppose to take 4 a day and it was one too many for me...and they are tablets that would sometimes make me gag.

I take Rainbow Light (the 6 a day kind) along with additional sublingual B complex and extra calcium. I do have additional B & Calcium needs due to some absorption issues , otherwise the prenatal would probably be plenty.

I feel wonderful, healthy and highly recommend Rainbow Light.

One more vote for Rainbow Light. I like that they don't have any animal products in them - the prescription ones usually contain fish oil. YUCK.

I 2nd both of these suggestions. I like megafood personally because you really want folate over folic acid. About 40% of the population have a gene mutation that prevents them from utilizing folic acid. I posted about this in another prenatal thread on here. I don't have time to list sources but I'm sure you can find it If you search. I'm one of those people who has a form of the MTHFR mutation but it wouldn't hurt to make sure the form is folate either way. Thorne prenatals are also good as they are very bioavailable and contain the proper forms of folic acid.
