breastfeeding 1y/o now painful, help

My dd is now 1 and her top teeth are coming in. Unfortunately her new very sharp teeth seem to be rubbing against the same spot at the base of my nipple causing a cut and making it painful to nurse. I tried to get her to open her mouth more tonight, however it lead to a lot of frustration for both of us. I am trying to get her to change the way she has been latching for the past year.
Neither one of us is ready to wean.
The time that I nurse my daughter has always been calming and relaxing for both of us, now it is becoming painful and frustrating.
Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do? Help!

I am going through the same thing with my 8 month old. I hope your post brings some advice for both of us.

Those top teeth can be ouchy! Try different positions- laying down etc to put the teeth in a slightly different position. Make sure they're not looking around (it was worst for me if I tried to nurse in front of the tv- baby would tilt head to watch tv and rest teeth on nipple)

Good luck! Those teeth are SO sharp when they come in- luckily they dull quite a bit very quickly.
