Lochia Concerns

Hey everyone. Just had a question about my lochia. I am 12 days pp after having a c/s. My lochia had turned to brown but then yesterday I started bleeding again and passing a couple of small clots. It tapered off in the evening but I did see my dr about it and she said its probably not due to anything retained b/c she made sure to clean me out well, but if it got worse to come back and she would schedule an u/s. Well just a bit ago I woke up to feed my baby and when I stood up I had a gush of blood that didn't quite fill a pad. I went to the bathroom, cleaned up and changed my pad. I wiped a few more times since then and the bleeding is barely there and is pinkish/mucousy. Is it just that the bleeding pooled overnight? Should I be super concerned? I have no signs of infection so I don't think its that. Maybe I just overdid it. I did pick up my 23 lb daughter a few times yesterday.

In my experience, lochia can come and go at varying levels of flow for as many as several weeks, and a gush of blood when standing up after being horizontal for a few hours is totally normal, IMO. If you don't have any signs of infection, you're probably fine!

Yep. I had a vaginal birth and bled for 8 weeks off and on.

Thanks girls. I've had no more bleeding since then. Just a bit of brown.

Normal. Last time I had totally slowed down, and all of a sudden at about two weeks out, I passed a big ol' hockey puck of a clot and gushed for a couple of hours. Might have had to do with the increase in activity I had a day or so before. Who knows. There's a large healing area in there, and it can start and stop.

Thanks BlackSheep. I just had it start up AGAIN after going away for a day or two. I have been doing more than I should though, especially after having a cesarean. DH went back to work so I have to pick my toddler up once in a while. There isn't really much I can do to avoid it. I also picked the baby up in his carseat today, which probably didn't help anything.
