$store OPK's where any 2nd line means positive

Okay, i'm confused by these. They are the New Choice brand and they explicitly say on the box that if there is a 2nd line at all, that is considered a positive result. There is nothing in the directions about the 2nd line needing to be as dark as the first.

But do they mean a true 2nd line? Or do they mean a 2nd line that a crazy obsessive pink-lines-for-eyeballs person can see? I am on day 12. I started testing on day 10, at 2pm each day. All 3 tests have had a line that shows up within the first 3 minutes, but is very very barely there faint. My husband insists they're positive because he sees the line (but he's just as pink-lines-for-eyeballs as I am at this point because we both want so badly to get pregnant).

I used to hate the OPK's that wanted one line to be as dark because that just seemed so subjective and weird, but now I completely understand why those exist and are in many ways better.

Anyone use this specific kind of test? Do you always get some kind of line, or do you sometimes get stark whites (like the pregnancy tests i keep seeing). And lastly, do you think they're faint because i'm gearing up but will become darker once LH actually surges?

any help is appreciated! thanks, TTC experts.

Sending pregnancy vibes to you all!

Does it really say that? I have used, let's say 100 of those (serious restraint issues) this year and the ones I got the line had to be darker. I always have a second line on those...I have never ever taken one without 2 lines. Maybe it's a new version of them?

Are they the little cassette ones?

ETA - it appears they did change them a bit since I used them last...http://www.soulcysters.net/showthrea...20&pagenumber=

Thanks for your response, FM! I hope your pregnancy is going well!

Yeah, a couple of months ago when i first started using OPK's, i bought the $ store ones and they were the "line must be darker than control" variety. I went back to get more and there were two different boxes.. looked identical, same brand and picture, etc, but one box was a touch smaller. I thought it would be best to get the smaller box bcus it was less packaging and i was already feeling guilty about all the excess waste with this process.

I didn't even think to re-read the directions. It was actually my husband who noticed the different instructions and said.. hey, this thing is positive! And yup, they're the cassette ones. Look just like the pregnancy tests.

Well, everyone on that board you linked to was so excited about these new ones and i see in theory why people would think these would be easier... but for the fact that i'm not sure what constitutes a line. i wish i had a picture of what i'm getting. they're "almost line" lines. they do have pink to them, and they're the kind of lines i would kill to have show up on a pregnancy test, but they don't look like the kind of thing normal people would call a line.

harumph.

wow, i'm so wordy. i envy y'all who post these nice concise questions that are a couple of lines in length.
